Real Data Science: Mercado Libre continues relying on 7Puentes to extract value from their data
Mercado Libre, the Latin America’s leading e-commerce technology company, still chooses 7Puentes as its consultant in Data Science. Thanks to the agile and efficient method our company offers, today the client may know in depth the behavior of their users, among other benefits.
Who buy toys? Are they men, women or young people? Who resale? Mercado Libre needed to understand how their users behave, which was the buying behavior of the different profiles of the consumers.
The answer to these questions was within their grasp: their own users. It was only a matter of processing large volumes of data generated by them in their operations. This possibility came true together with 7Puentes, who highlighted this kind of analysis out of the maelstrom of the company’s day to day activities.
“Despite being a huge company, leader among Latin-American Internet users, Mercado Libre needed to overcome a few challenges. In order to answer simple questions, there were large quantities of data to process and organize,” explains Ernesto Mislej, partner of 7Puentes and leader of this project. “They trust in 7Puentes because we have the knowledge of the business and the necessary technicians to smartly use the information the users provide in each operation.”
7Puentes helped Mercado Libre in the improvement of other challenging matters. First, we analyzed the images of the products offered, identifying those that were fake. Therewith, we enhanced the offer of the web lists, avoiding the customer to feel disappointed.
We also focused in the advertising aspect, in two senses. On the one hand, we identified the “inactive” customers to reactivate them. On the other hand, we focused the target of the advertisements and we identified complementary products, which resulted in a more efficient service.
Finally, we offered some recommendations to make a more efficient the portal home.
This was possible, partly, thanks to the great capacity 7Puentes has of working interactively with the different business areas of the company: Marketing, Advertising, Home Design, etc. “Many times we are the link between the different areas of the company, we unify a common language so each one of them can achieve their business goals,” adds Mislej.
